When should you update your website?

The internet is a fast paced, ever changing environment. If you look at how websites used to look ten years ago, the difference can be astonishing when compared to how they look now. Because of this, the average, everyday user of the internet develops certain expectations about the websites they visit. Large corporations frequently change their designs to stay competitive and continue drawing in new customers...and there’s no reason you can’t do the same!
We recommend that you update your site’s design completely at least every five years. This keeps your site from looking outdated and will ensure your site is compatible with modern devices such as smartphones, tablets, etc.. Outdated sites can translate into a poor first impression from your potential clients, and non-mobile friendly sites may not even display correctly on certain devices. Updated sites not only look new and fresh, but they also tend to improve SEO (search engine optimization), and therefore may translate into more traffic coming into your site. Since the price of web design has dropped considerably over the past ten years, occasional redesigns like this are much less expensive than they were.
If you’re interested in giving your site a fresh, modern look, we can help you out. Feel free to send me an email at mark@vividnl.ca to get started.
